Gambling addiction is a minority problem and can result from any form of gambling if relevant safeguards are not adhered to.  This is an issue we take extremely seriously and on this page we outline our Social Responsibility Policy aimed at identifying and tackling the problem of gambling addiction.

Getting Help Through GamCare

GamCare is the leading national provider of information, advice, support and free counselling for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling. Their expert services are confidential and non-judgemental.

They provide a Freephone National Gambling Helpline as well as live chat with advisers through ‘NetLine’. They also host an online forum, daily chatrooms, and provide free face-to-face counselling for anyone experiencing difficulty through their own gambling or that of a family member.

As well as Pure Fun and Skill Games, Fletcher’s have been in the Gambling business since before 1920 ande held Gaming Permits for decades, well before Gambling Licences were first introduced in 1968, and have always understood the social importance of operating our business responsibly.

Our business has never been attributed to causes of gambling problems by the Local Council, Police or UK Gambling Commission.

Fletchers Arcade is nowadays an unusual style of arcade – although we have Retro Videos and Classic Arcade Games as well as £500 Jackpot Slots, our licence is still quite rightly restricted to over 18`s only. This is because primarily we are a Live Slots style of arcade. We choose to enable all our floor space not be utilised for gambling because we understand the social importance of variety.

Our Clientele

Most of our clientele have been coming to our arcade for decades.
We know from customer feedback that many of our patrons choose our particular arcade because they feel they are welcome to only spend a safe amount with us. At any time they can choose our non-gambling games or anonymously take some of the ‘Gamcare Literature’ we have freely available to take away to digest accordingly.

If apparent profile behaviours become too concerning, our customer assistants will intervene with a discreet chat, as per their training, such as to direct players to our ‘Gamcare’ Literature, or suggest a time-out period from gambling, or both .

Fletcher’s as a company and all our employees are trained and are kept up to date with practices laid down by our trade association BACTA and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.

These include requirements for our Team of Customer Assistants to be able to spot behavioural trends which they are trained to recognise as signs of personal behaviour which can lead to problem gambling.

Partly for this reason, we offer a wider range of arcade games under one roof, for some of our clientele to enjoy in-between or instead of continuously playing our Live Slots.
